Meeting Tonight

We will be conducting our monthly meeting tonight at 6 p.m. at the Greene County Public Library (120 North 12th Street) in the Legacy Room.  If you are stressed from the constant stream of depressing political news, come join like-minded people.  Refreshments will be provided.

Election Day Locations

It’s Election Day!  Polls open at 7:30 a.m. and close at 7:30 p.m.  As long as you are in line to vote at 7:29 p.m., you will be allowed to proceed through the line and vote.

If you haven’t had a chance to vote early, you may vote on Election Day at any one of the nine Election Day voting centers in Greene County.  One center is located in each of the cities of Delaplaine, Lafe, and Marmaduke; one center is located in each of the Oak Grove and Walcott areas; and four centers are located throughout Paragould.  As long as you are registered to vote in Greene County, it does not matter at which voting center you choose to vote.  For instance, someone who lives in Paragould may choose to cast her ballot in Marmaduke.

Unfortunately, Arkansas does not have same-day voter registration like some other states have.  The deadline to register for the November 5 election was October 7 in Arkansas.

AR Supreme Court Refuses to Allow Democracy Because of Technicality

The Arkansas Supreme Court has ruled that the abortion initiative will not appear on November’s ballot.  The Court ruled 4-3 that supplementary paperwork was not in order.  It appears the incorrect person signed a document about paid canvassers; the person with the canvassing company signed it, as opposed to a person affiliated with the ballot initiative.  Also, some paperwork was submitted separately, as opposed to being submitted in one bundle.  It is disgraceful that Democracy has been denied to voters.  It appears that the Arkansas Supreme Court majority does not trust voters to make the decision they want them to make!
